Telecommunications
We are highly skilled in the Maldivian telecoms market and set ourselves apart in our multi-disciplinary approach covering legal, regulatory, policy, technical and litigation matters.
Telecommunications regulatory
We have been at the forefront in the development of telecoms regulation and legal framework in the Maldives, including drafting of the Maldives’ first telecommunication regulations in 2002. We were engaged by the Wataniya Group based in Qatar to establish the Group’s branch in Maldives in 2005. Our lawyers continue to sit on the board of the company for our expertise in the country’s telecom laws and regulations. We have also assisted global conglomerates such as Samsung and Tencent to secure telecommunications regulatory clearances in the Maldives.
Telecommunications infrastructure
We have advised on complex infrastructure projects including on submarine cables and satellite services for Ooredoo and Dhiraagu and have advised on all aspects of transactions from project documentation, project management, regulatory approvals and Government coordination.
Data protection compliance
We have advised Maldives based telecom companies and offshore multinational companies such as Tencent and Spotify on data protection compliance matters from a Maldives perspective.
