About

Reem holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia and has been admitted to the Bar of the Maldives. She has interned at the Prosecutor General’s Office, Attorney General’s Office, Muizzu & Co LLP and SHC Law & Tax LLP.

Prior to joining SHC Law & Tax LLP, Reem worked at the President’s Office as a Deputy Legal Officer. Her work mainly consisted of advising the President’s Office on Public Law matters, reviewing and approving subsidiary legislations submitted to the President’s Office for publication, briefing the President on Bills submitted to the Parliament and advising on legal and policy related matters relating to Bills. She also served as a member of the Bid Committee at the President’s Office, where she advised the committee on awarding procurements in accordance with the Public Finance Act and the Public Finance Regulation.

Since joining SHC, Reem has worked on the following matters:

  • US$ 10 million financing transaction to develop a 4-star category hotel;
  • Acting as counsel in employment, probate and commercial litigation cases;
  • Carrying out due diligence matters relating to financing transactions and lease acquisition transactions;
  • Advising clients in relation to the tourism, employment and financial regulatory framework in Maldives;
  • Assisting foreign investors to register in the Maldives and obtain various licenses and permits; and
  • Assisting in drafting commercial agreements for the acquisition of agricultural lease by a Foreign Investor.
