Juna’s main practice areas include tourism and hospitality, banking and finance, and foreign investments. She has represented various international clients in leasehold and hotel acquisitions, and hotel financing transactions of over US$ 800M. 

She also regularly advises international hotel owners and operators alike on due diligence, structuring investments, regulatory compliance, operational matters and labour issues.

Juna is also experienced in Maldives economic policy, having worked as part of the team for the recent debut offering of a US$ 200M Maldives sovereign bond. She has drafted key legislation on antitrust law and data protection for the Maldivian Government, and has also advised the Government on the Maldives-China Free Trade Agreement signed in December 2017.

She has most recently acted as counsel to Maldives Islamic Bank Plc on its conversion to a public limited company and its subsequent listing on the Maldives Stock Exchange.

Juna is also well-versed in the areas of public law from her years at the Maldives Prosecutor General’s Office, and her experience at the Maldives Attorney General’s Office.

Juna holds an LL.B from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and is also qualified to practice law in Maldivians courts of law.
