With over 9 years of legal experience, Raisham offers a unique blend of expertise across the insurance, corporate, public policy, and hospitality sectors. Specializing in international commercial law, she has shaped her career at the intersection of regulatory compliance, legal strategy and commercial practice.
Raisham currently serves as Legal Counsel at Dhivehi Insurance Company Pvt Ltd, where she also acts as the designated Compliance Officer. Complementing her work in finance and insurance sector, Raisham was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Maldives Ports Limited, one of the largest state-owned enterprises in the country. In addition to her corporate practice, Raisham has advised and represented clients in the hospitality industry, including reviewing hotel management agreements and providing both legal and commercial advice.
Prior to this, Raisham served Deputy Legal Officer at the President’s Office of the Maldives. In this role, she worked closely with policymakers and was actively involved in two of the most significant initiatives ever undertaken by the Government. She was part of the Maldives’ first ever ‘Governance Review’ in 2017, which included a constitutional and institutional reform process. Additionally, she also contributed to the country’s first ‘Crime Research Initiative’, a data-driven project that analyzed real institutional data to inform justice sector reform – marking a milestone in evidence-based policymaking.
Raisham’s early legal career includes experience in corporate and tax law, and she has also served as a lecturer at the Maldives National University. Raisham’s academic achievement is equally noteworthy, with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons) earned from the University of Hertfordshire, UK, and a Master of Laws in International Commercial Law (LL.M.) from the University College Dublin, Ireland.
