Mizna joined the firm in 2009. She was admitted to the bar of Maldives in 2010, and is presently an advocate of the Maldives High Court and the Maldives Supreme Court.
She has extensive litigation experience in the Maldivian courts and tribunals, having represented clients in landmark cases pertaining to resort mortgage foreclosures and major hotel investment disputes. She provides legal counsel to a diverse global client base, and regularly advises major real estate companies, airline companies, research-‐based companies, public and private companies, high net worth individuals and world-‐renowned Maldives island resorts and hotels on a wide range of corporate, commercial, investment, financing and employment matters. In addition to her full-time private practice, Mizna is also a lecturer in the Law of International Trade at the Faculty of Sharia and Law of Villa College in affiliation with the University of the West of England, Bristol.
Previously, Mizna has served the Government of Maldives as Minister of State for Tourism, Arts and Culture. She has also served as Director of Legal Affairs at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority during which time she played a pivotal role in setting up the Maldives tax regime and drafting of various tax policies, rules and regulations. She has also served as chairperson of the Governing Board of the SAARC Information Centre based in Kathmandu, Nepal and as a member of the Executive Board of the Asia Pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Mizna holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Honors degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M) with Merit in Banking and Finance Law from University of London. She is also a graduate of the University of South Australia where she completed her Bachelor of Business (Administrative Management) and Master of Management Information Systems during 2004/2005.
