Telecommunications regulatory

We drafted the Maldives’ first telecommunication regulations in 2002, and have been shaping the sector’s legal framework ever since. In 2005, the Qatar-based Wataniya Group engaged us to help establish its branch in the Maldives and our lawyers still sit on the company’s board today, reflecting our ongoing expertise in the country’s telecom laws and regulations. We have also assisted global conglomerates such as Samsung and Tencent in securing telecommunications regulatory clearances in the Maldives.

Telecommunications infrastructure

We have advised on complex infrastructure projects including submarine cables and satellite services for Ooredoo and Dhiraagu, and have advised on all aspects of transactions from project documentation, project management, regulatory approvals and Government coordination.This gives us a rare depth of insight into how telecoms infrastructure is built and delivered in the Maldives

We have advised Maldives-based telecom companies and offshore multinational companies such as Tencent and Spotify on data protection compliance matters from a Maldives perspective.
