About

Asma is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, with a Masters of law in International Business Law.  In the Maldives, she specialises in hotel resort acquisitions, banking and finance, foreign investments, aviation and public-private partnership projects.

Her professional approach attracts a diverse global client base, including Hitachi Plant Technologies (Japan), world-class luxury hoteliers and renowned seaplane operators. 

Before moving to the Maldives, Asma was a Commercial Litigator handling international disputes and arbitration on terms such as International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), and London Maritime Arbitration Association (LMAA)), cultivated from practising for seven years at two leading Commodities and Shipping law firms at the City of London.

Her recent experience includes:

  • Advising subsidiary of a Global Fortune 500 Companies on foreign investments in Maldives infrastructure projects
  • Acting for a world-renowned foreign investor in its share acquisition in Male’ Water and Sewerage Company
  • Counsel to a public company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, with a secondary listing on the Singapore Stock Exchange
  • On-going adviser on aircraft transactions for Maldives’ seaplane companies
  • Retained counsel on corporate, commercial, operational and employment issues for five-star establishments managed by internationally-renowned hotel operators.
