Ms. Haifa graduated from the University of London with Bachelors of Laws in 2006, and was admitted to the Maldives bar in 2007. Before moving to full time private law practice, Ms. Haifa worked at the Maldives Monetary Authority (Central Bank of Maldives) and was in charge of managing the US$ 10.5 million software project to implement automated mobile banking systems in the Maldives.
She regularly advises world-renowned Maldives island resorts on corporate, commercial and employment issues. She is also well-versed in acting for foreign investments and has represented various international companies conducting business in the Maldives.
Her relevant recent experience includes:-
(i) Advising world renowned international hotels and resorts on foreign investment and corporate restructuring matters in the Maldives;
(ii) Advising private and public limited companies listed on various corporate and commercial contracts and matters;
(iii) Frequently advising international and local hotels, resorts, airlines other corporations in the Maldives on employment and labour law matters;
(iv) Frequently advising foreign investors in respect of setting up banking operations in the Maldives;
(v) Drafting various types of commercial contracts including security documents;
(vi) Acting as counsel to numerous foreign-owned enterprises and handling their respective foreign investments in the Maldives, including initial set-up and establishment of a local presence, and on-going commercial and company administrative matters
(vii) Conducting seminars on Maldives Employment laws to various audiences;
(viii) Representing foreign owned enterprises in respect of various commercial litigation works in the Civil Court and High Court.
